I have narrowed down Study Abroad to 6 countries

1. Spain
2. Turkey
3. Argentina
4. Ecuador
5. Peru
6. Jordan

Which destination will look the most impressive for medical schools/the most unique?

Spain is by far my top choice, especially to practice. I'm just afraid its too cliche and too many people study abroad there. Ecuador and Peru seem too close to home, but they will also help me with Spanish and are more unique. Argentina seems like a country where people are unfriendly.

Turkey and Jordan just seem very unique and exotic, although I have no intentions of permanently knowing Arabic

lmao who cares have fun

I went to Spain almost 100% for language practice but also to have some more laid-back academic experiences compared to usual premed fare. It was over the summer, I didn't take any science courses. I just had fun practicing and traveling around the country! The reasons you list are mostly bad reasons ('seeming exotic', thinking some country for some reason is more valued than others just in general????) anyways. Pick whatever would make you happiest.

None.

Join the Peace Corps or the military. That will impress us.

Personal opinion: Save that money and do something in the United States. May be join Alternative Breaks or a Summer Fellow program...something that will show you how is the healthcare around the United States, what are some areas which needs attention. I went to a school which had mandatory study abroad for my major. I had no money to afford to go study abroad, so I opted out given I will gain similar experience as to if I were to study abroad. So I interned at an International School, an asylum clinic, and an HIV/AIDS clinic...practiced the little Spanish I know, heard stories of how immigrants and asylum seekers are treated in the health care setting, felt and experienced the power of empathic listening.

Why on earth would that be impressive? The only thing that will maybe add something fun in hobbies in travelling and it should be easy in Europe as the boarders are open and everything is close by/a train away.

please do study abroad but not because it'll help with med school but because its an amazing experience. Not everything you have to do has to be get into medical school. Out of the above I would choose spain. Get a railpass and explore all of europe and when you come back you won't regret it for a second lol.

First off, no one will care where you do a study abroad. The study abroad is for you, not for your med school admissions. You should definitely do it. It may not make a big difference in your medical school application, but because seeing a bit of the world is good for you.

FYI, they speak Turkish in Turkey, not Arabic. Istanbul is one of the prettiest cities in the world.
Spain is an amazing country, but may not be the best place on your list to learn Spanish. Depending on where in Spain you are studying and what you want to use your spanish for, you would have better luck in South America.
If you want to learn Spanish (which might help your application) Ecuador has an easy accent to learn. Peru as well. Ecuador is amazing.

At the end of the day, go wherever you most want to go. It's your semester abroad, go where you want.
