Whats the general feeling? Is UIC slow on inviting for interviews? I am a "in-stater" with 32R and good gpa and have heard nothing after a email saying my 2ndary was complete.... should I be worried?

Not getting worked up...just wondering...

Don't worry. I have a feeling that UIC is very behind this year (i called and emailed them several times). If you have a 3.6+, 30+ (balanced), you will likely get an interview.

sorry but what does UIC stand for?

University of Illinois - Chicago 🙂

off topic, "wherefore" actually means "why," not "where" -- "oh, UIC, why are you named UIC?"

heh.

UIC is sending out interviews, but very very slowly from what I gather. You can call Linda, I think, at admissions and ask to see if your application has been reviewed. I called a few weeks ago, and she said that my application had been flagged for review. Anyway, goodluck!!

Is flagged for review a good thing? I called and I have been "under review" for 2 weeks and they said to call back in a month....what up with dat?!

("wherefore art thou, romeo"....sounds like "Where are you, romeo" not "Why are you, romeo"...i'm not an english major, but i do have common sense.. 🙂 )

Yes it apparently meant that my file was in the pile to be reviewed soon

She's the assistant admissions director

we just got an email that they need M3/M4 for interviews. the dates are coming up soon so don't worry they are going to have interviews soon. just relax. it's still pretty early in the game.

See, it's not "Wherefore art thou, Romeo," it's "Wherefore art thou Romeo?" -- no comma. It's immediately followed by "Deny thy father and refuse thy name," and "that which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet - so Romeo would, were he not Romeo called, retain that dear perfection." With "Wherefore art thou Romeo," Juliet is asking why Romeo must belong to a family with whom her family is feuding.

Point taken... I deffer to "/dork" 😉 After all, as I said, I'm not a English major. I should have had you write my personal statement, cause I haven't gotten an interview from UIC yet!!!!

😉 thanks for the clever banter...

I got an interview invite via snail mail today. Completed mid september. August Mcater

Congrats!! what were your stats? and are you in-state?

I'm not sure if anyone else received this, but I received an interview invite on Friday although I haven't completed the addendum yet. Not sure if it was a fluke, but it seems that for me at least that the interview process was sans addendum, although it probably is going to be required soon.

I'm out of state. 33R, 3.25 Undergrad, 3.95 Grad.

does anyone know if they review files in order of completion or in some other way. also, any ideas of when the adcom meet? a lady named susan (i think one of the admissions counselors) said they meet only a few times a month but didnt specify when...

when does their chicago campus fill up?

I'm trying to figure that out because my file was completed Mid-September and I got the interview this Friday and others who have completed their files earlier got earlier invites it seems. So I would say that if your file was completed later than mid-septebmer, then your file has likely not been reviewed yet.

I think it depends on when your addendum+supplementary gets completed. I know some people have received invitations w/out submitting their addendum.

In general, it seems that they are interviewing people for the Chicago campus right now.

on my status page there is all this information about the interview (slots that are available)...but the "interview letter date" is blank. will i for sure be getting an interview? i want to call tomorrow to make sure i get the date i want (12/6) because it is a monday and i'll have to fly home from school.

What addendum????

I already interviewed and was accepted to UIC, but they said we were the first people that they were interviewing which was on Oct. 5. I was talking to a UIC student and he said that the whole school is a little screwed up administrative-wise. I wouldn't sweat it too much. 80% of acceptances are in-state so any sort of decent illinois applicant should get interviewed and most likely accepted.

My one point of advice is during lunch there will be 4th year med students eating with you to answer questions and whatnot, but what they don't tell you is that THEY ARE THE STUDENT INTERVIEWERS. Tricky, tricky. I actually ended up sitting with the guy that did in fact interview me. Good luck, I'm sure you'll hear from them soon.

Perfect...this is what I need...inside scoops....James Bond style 😉 seriously..thanks for the insight and tips

This addendum thing is pissing me off. I'm an August MCATer who didn't get the secondary until October. For my secondary, the "addendum" were just questions built into the app. But some people haven't even gotten/never wrote those essays. So... my application is being reviewed with those essays under consideration (?)... but some people who never even had to do the addendum have gotten in already!? How does that work? It's so stupid!! They couldn't wait until next year to add the questions to ALL secondaries?

I interviewed and then got that addendum a week later. I sent it back within a couple of days and got an acceptance letter about a week after that. I doubt very much if they even read it and if they did I can't imagine it played too big a role in the acceptance process.

An older friend of mine who is a physician told me to pay close attention to the admissions processes of various schools. It'll tell you alot about the type of university it is. In my book, this whole last minute addendum is a bit of a black mark on UIC. Just get it done so it's in your file and your file is complete, but I wouldn't sweat over it.

I'm interviewing at Peoria next week, does that mean I'm interviewing for a position on the Peoria campus and not any of the other ones? Anyone know how they do this?

I called yesterday to schedule my interview and the admissions woman gave me a choice of three locations where I could interview. I applied to go to UIC only, she said that all interviews were for the chicago campus, the different interview locations were for our convience. I think it may be different if you applied to go anywhere, you should call to clarify. Good luck at your interview :luck:

Sweet, sounds good, thanks, good luck to you too!

I just got back from my UIC interview I had today and I LOVED IT!

I am definately thinking about going there if I get in. Can't beat the instate pricetag.

Where you interview does not decide where you are placed. Once you get accepted to UIC you request a campus; Chicago, Peoria or Rockford. Depending on how early you are in the process depends on where you go. Chicago campus fills up first... you cant apply to UIC chicago campus; you request it once you get in.

What addendum are you guys talking about?
Thanks!

any recent interviews from UIC? last i called, they said my file is under review...anyone know when the adcom meets?

thanks

They received my addendum on Oct. 18. I'm an Illinois resident and undergrad at University of Illinois with a 35/Q MCAT and 3.8 GPA... still waiting to hear about an interview.

last week of every month. They sent out acceptance letters for October interviews on Oct. 26. Ask around and browse SDN and Interview Feedback. You will find lot more information.

Does anyone know how long the interview is? I am interviewing in Chicago at 11:30, as opposed to 9:00. Okay thanks!

Does anyone know how long it takes for UIC to make decisions post-interview? Has anyone heard back yet?

Im an august MCATer so the 'addendum' was built in to my secondary.. I just sent it in on Mon, much later than i was planning on turning it in-- i don't know how it's mid november already! 🙂

within a month. the adcom meets on a thursday once a month. acceptances are sent out the following monday. you either get straight up accepted, or "no decisions". for those who are "no decisions," you either get rejected or put on the waitlist in May. About a third of the waitlist gets in.

You have lot of inside information. I guess you interviewed there. Did you like the school? What did you think about it.

P.S: I am amazed by how this thead comes back to life every other day. I think that it is going to die for good..but no.

i will PM you on this one. 😉

When I applied to UIC (mind you, this was several years ago), I didn't hear until late Dec. And I got my apps in as soon as was humanly possible.
One hint, they meet only once a month to talk about interviewees, so try to get your interview before that monthly meeting. Mine was 2 days before the meeting and I got my acceptance letter less than a week after I had my interview.

For you lucky b#$^ards who have gotten interviews at UIC, how did you get the invite? Phone? Email? ??
