As long as the disability does not affect how you might be able to do your job, I would encourage you to disclose it even though you are not required to. You need to see if there are technical standards for your program where it might address needing accommodations for you, but you will not otherwise be rejected because of your disability.I am applying for research-related jobs at a medical school that has a stated diversity mission.
They have a voluntary "Do you have a disability" question in the section with other voluntary questions about race/ethnicity/gender.
I have a federally defined disability covered under ADA and can certainly respond yes to that.
I am not sure if it's better for my employment prospects there to say "Yes" or "Refuse to Respond".
