which isomer of 2-pentene is more stable, the cis or the trans isomer?

i converted the word stable to the melting point, so the one has the highest melting point is the most stable. Only trans has higher meting point
 
cis has a higher bp because of a net dipole, and trans have higher mp's because they can fit into a crystal better.

Nice concepts...but IMO too complex.
