It is the only one that has the indication for nephropathy I believe......

I believe irbesartan also has the FDA approved indication for diabetic nephropathy as well.
hmmm cozaar also has the indication for stroke risk reduction, so is this simply due to the attribution of proven studies? All the other ArBs in theory should have this effect as well if we assume it's a class effect...

Also, I have heard that ARBs are more appropriate in patients with type 2 diabetes and ACE inhibitors are better in type 1 diabetics (has any1 heard this?)...but in theory I think either should have the same effect pharmacologically? Should we still factor in this factor when choosing which drug is better (not taking into account the ADR profile yet)?
