Some schools require 12hrs of biology course work. I have taken a year of biology. Which biology course would be most beneficial in medical school that I could take now?

Anatomy OR physiology > biochem, cell biology or genetics

Oh yeah, forgot about anatomy. I took it as an undergrad but we did a lot of stuff on cats...Which isn't the same thing as a person. It's another good alternative. There's really no substitute for the level of anatomy you learn in med school though.

Anatomy, Anatomy, Anatomy. You will save yourself A LOT of time if you get to med school with a decent background in human anatomy.

You'll forget 90% of it by the time MS-1 rolls around. I know I took A&P 1 nearly a year ago and cannot remember half the explicit details with the exception of macro structures.

I am taking Anatomy now (actually have my practical at noon) and you remember more than you would think. From first hand experience, taking anatomy in undergrad is top 3 best things you could do before med school. The students without a background are struggling because they first have to learn all the muscles. With the muscles down from college, I am fine tuning innervations, arteries, cord levels, dermatomes, etc. Makes it a lot easier when you have to learn back, upper, and lower limbs in 3 weeks. :scared:

I dont really think ANY undergrad course you are going to take is going to help you THAT much. Just take what interests you. I agree with serenade....comparitive anatomy. Not because its going to help you but because NO other class I took in undergrad gave me as good of an outlook on evolution across species etc. Def my favorite undergrad course.

I think I know a solid... 60 muscles.... from A&P 1. How many muscles do you learn in medical school anatomy? 600+?
