I'm not sure why my previous thread was closed... but here is the link to my question:

Long story short, which DPT program, in your opinion, would you choose if you had the choice. I could use some advice.

Campbell University or Touro-Bay Shore?
My pro's and con's list for both schools are in the link above.

Thank you!

I'm not sure why a bunch of these threads are popping up. It seems ridiculous to me to ask someone "which would you choose?" Everyone values certain aspects of pt programs differently. Some would choose location over cost, reputation over a new program, private vs public. You already made your pro/con list. Now what do you value most? Cost? Location? Accreditation? It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks or where anyone else would go if they had the chance. It's tough to choose between two schools, but ultimately it's your choice. Think about it, is a random internet forum really going to sway your decision if you already favor one (even slightly) over the other?

choose the cheapest one, it really doesnt matter where you go because of the level of standardization of an accredited program. the degree only allows you the ability to write the licensing exam

"top" schools have higher pass rates, better facilities, and better connections for clinical sites/jobs after graduation, thats it.

I completely agree with you. Each person has their own reasons and variables in choosing a school. But my friend's issue at the moment is he doesn't know which is more important to him, being close to home or academic quality, the two are tied.

Pretty much what the question comes down to is, is the Touro-Bay Shore DPT program really as bad as SDN and other student reviews make it seem to be? So bad that you would recommend going to any school, regardless if its new and provisionally accredited, over going to Touro? If the majority says yes or no, then that'll at least provide a little guidance.

It's still going to be subjective either way. The students currently in the Touro program might love it, some might hate it. I also say go to the cheaper school (if you have that choice, which he does) unless you absolutely think that the program isn't the right fit. Did he visit Touro? If not, I highly advise him to do so. He can get an idea of what the professors are like as well as the facilities. That way he isn't just going on what sdn people say. If he has visited Touro, then it's his turn to decide. Pass rates are important and if Touro's aren't up to par, you may have to take a hard look at the other school. BTW, don't be scared about the provisional accreditation. The other school seems to be an established health care school, they should have no problem. Also, in the case that they don't get accredited, they most likely will have an agreement with one or two more schools where they will agree to take on the failed program's students. Failed accreditation only happens when a program is severely lacking in some aspect, not something you'd expect from an established health care school.

Thank you for your input, very much appreciated! He's visiting Touro this Sunday actually. Haha, I guess he just wants all possible facts and opinions, subjective or not, before he makes a final decision on where to spend the next 3-years of his life. Thanks again.

Do not go to Touro. I chose Touro because it was the least expensive of my options and it was the biggest mistake of my life. My class started with 34 people and in our 5th semester we are down to 26. They failed almost 25% of the class out by the end of 4th semester. With 1 exception, the staff could not care less about the students. Instead of helping you to succeed they try their hardest every semester to 'weed people out'. Everything is a disorganized mess, which makes succeeding that much harder and the quality of the education in most of the classes is terrible. No one gets the clinical placements they want and the professors are constantly leaving or being fired. Honestly the program is a complete scam. Please invest in a better program, you will not regret it.
