Couldn't find any threads on this topic in specific, so here goes.

For those of you who have interviewed, of all the questions you were asked, which one were you least well prepared to answer?

For me, it was that one interviewer assumed I wanted to specialize and asked me what I wanted to specialize in. It's not that I hadn't thought about it, it's just that I hadn't come to anything resembling a conclusion yet, so I just mentioned the 2 or 3 areas that seemed most appealing to me at this stage in the game.

Anyone else?

If you had to get to know me by asking me two questions only, what would you ask me?

I heard Arizona throws some crazy Qs. I have interview with them soon, fun stuff!!! Can't wait for it~

Have you ever been involved in an ethical dilemma?

I was stumped and couldn't think of anything - I ended up bumbling about when I didn't cheat on an exam in junior high. 😛 For some reason my brain didn't think of a major ethical dilemma I'm involved in right now that concerns a plagiarized textbook I've discovered. Oh well - you win some, you lose some.

"what was the most difficult time in your life and how did you get through it?"
"dental school is very stressful. what will you do to get through it?"

Why do you want to come to this school. Its roughly $100,000 more than your state school over the course of 4 years -- It is my job to convince the admissions committee that if offered a spot here you would accept it and we are not a backup school. If you are accepted in state in my opinion it might not be a wise financial decision to come here.

Explain a situation in your life where you failed to acomplish something... and what would you do if you fail to get in Dental School?.... (Would you cry? 😀 )

Honestly, in most cases "I dont know" maybe the best strategy instead of making something up... so that the interviewer knows you are honest about your answers.

What would you do if a patient didn't think you were old enough to be competent? (I'm in my twenties, but without any help...makeup...dress style...could easily pull off @ 15)

If you could stand in front of the admissions committee right now and tell them three things about yourself, what would they be?

What do you want me to remember about you?

The question was so vague! I ended up rambling about my personality, manual dexterity (which I guess was kind of unique), dental experience, and why those qualities would make me a good dentist.

This was last year, but I got "What should America have learned from 9/11?"

What is your definition of an ethical dentist?

got this one at carolina

A Dentist that doesn't allow something else get in the way on what he/she does to practice the profession as he/she should, morally! 😀 - Anything from not doing the right treatments to over-charging patients! - There are probably many Dentists who are un-ethical, just like there are some other skilled professionals.

You can rephrase that in so many ways, you still come back to the same point! 🙂

If you could be any car, what would it be and why?
If you could be a piece of furniture, what would it be and why?

If you are interviewing at NSU, prepare for these 🙂

I hope you didn't say you were addicted to porn. Would that be a good thing or a bad thing?

At one particular interview I got asked very personal questions that I was not prepared for. One was "are you financially prepared to pay for a XXXXXX education" and the other one was "please explain your family circumstances to me" in regards to an earlier mention on my application.

I was also asked (by this same interviewer) "please tell me something that happened in your life that changed you forever... but nothing bad because I made a student cry one time; well I didn't make her cry but anyway that would be bad. So, nothing traumatic." 🙄

"Who is Berkeley playing against this weekend?"
(Regarding the football team)

Note the following:
1. I do not attend UC Berkeley,
2. Football is the last sport I watch, read about and care about (Not to diss football fans. Its a great game. I just don't find it all exciting to watch.),

Of course, my response should have been something along the lines of, "Hmm, good question. I'm not quite sure of their schedule right now." Instead I said, "Oh wow, I have no idea! I guess I've been in my own little bubble this week."

Could I have given a worse response? Although I meant "bubble" in terms of "no-football bubble" (as I am well aware of political, social and most health-related current events), I don't think my interviewer was impressed. Rightly so.

What I learned from this interview? Do not endure a 8 hour drive one day prior to your interview. You will be cranky, comatose, sore and may blurt out some fairly incompetent dialogue. I know I did. Too bad this school is one of my top choices.

Sigh. Huge bummer...

definitely a good thing 😀 --< in fact, I should have said that 😛

I have been asked "Why does Boise State have blue turf?" by one interviewer with such intensity and purpose (much like the emotion a trial lawyer would pour into a question such as 'why did you go on that random crime spree?') that it really threw me for a second - as if my answer would determine the admissions outcome.
