Definitely attend ACOM. Please. It is so awesome. I could speak volumes to that schools' awesome-ness. (sift through the ACOM '16/'17 thread for reasons why: https://forums.studentdoctor.net/th...ine-acom-discussion-thread-2016-2017.1196873/)
I enjoyed TUNCOM. It wasn't a great fit for me personally... But if you are into big/fun cities or rock climbing/hiking... You'll obviously love the environment over there. Plus they have the dean that brought the board scores for RVU and KCU to the top, so it's probably safe to assume he will do the same at TUNCOM. One thing I didn't like is that the students have to share resources with the other programs there (PA, nursing, PT, etc.)
KYCOM seems like a good school (I visited a week ago.) They are definitely primary care driven, so if you are interested in primary care, especially in the Appalachian area, it's a good choice for you. You've seen the location though, would you be happy in a small town in the middle of nowhere like that?
CUSOM I have heard is a great school with new facilities and a bright future (similar to that of ACOM.) I have heard it is extremely rural where the school is, though (again, if you dig that kind of thing, go for it.)
I can't comment on WCU or UNE, I know little to nothing about those schools. I have heard WCU has trouble scoring well on boards, but that is merit-based... So don't let that deter you if you want to practice in that area or really like the school.
As for the deposit, since you won't be hearing back from any other schools by December 14th, I would recommend saving your seat (just in case.) I'm sure you will yield other acceptances if you have one already, but you don't know that for sure and don't want to risk it.
In summary: I would attend ACOM (seriously... do it) & TUNCOM interviews for sure. I would attend CUSOM if you like rural areas, and I would ask someone else about UNE and WCU. I would also pay your deposit at KYCOM.
Good luck! You are in a great position.
Def agree with this post. Well though out!
Just some pedantically: So dr Dougherty the current dean at TUNCOM actually had nothing to do wth the board scores because he was the dean of clinical education at kcu and not the college of medicine dean. It was dr Dubin who brought that to kcu and rvu!

Thanks for all the helpful replies everyone! I am highly considering attending my ACOM interview now!
@Ho0v-man, I did apply to LECOM PA but they haven't invited me for an interview 🙁 I would definitely be down to go there if they would invite me!! I interviewed at LECOM FL but was waitlisted :/
Well, if you already have an acceptance, it would follow that you would only attend interviews at programs you would choose over the acceptance you already have.
In any event, cancel your UIW interview. Attending UIW over a Caribbean would be a real toss-up at this point.
Hi everyone!
I was fortunate enough to be accepted to KYCOM but I'm now wondering which of my remaining interviews I should attend. I will definitely attend my PCOM interview in January as this is my first choice school. I have other scheduled interviews at CUSOM, ACOM, UIWSOM, WCUCOM, and TUNCOM.
I have a strong preference for schools that are relatively close to PA (or at least drive-able to) since I am a PA resident. Therefore, I was considering attending my CUSOM and PCOM interviews and cancelling the rest...? I've of course been reading about each school to help make my decisions but I'm honestly still so confused! Does anyone have any suggestions regarding whether or not I should attend any of the other interviews? How do you think these other schools might compare with KYCOM? Would you say that the other schools are pretty much on par with KYCOM (or "below" or "above"?) I know these are extremely loose terms... but I just want to gain a sense of what other people think because in the end, I of course want to go to the best school overall that I can get into. I also hope to specialize if that adds anything to this discussion.
I also have a separate question... KYCOM is currently my only acceptance and I will need to pay the $1000 deposit by 12/14 without hearing back from most other schools before then. What is the best course of action to take in this situation? I am assuming I would just have to forfeit the money if I end up getting in/going to another school? Of course I wouldn't lose anything if I do end up going to KYCOM.
I am waiting for my UNECOM decision to come in but I am assuming it should come in during the next 2 weeks. If I were to get into UNECOM, would you recommend UNECOM or KYCOM? I'm just trying to have as much of my decision planned out before 12/14 arrives and I need to pay a deposit!
Any help would be greatly appreciated--thanks so much!!

If you ask five people, you're going to get six different answers.
I recommend TUNCOM and ACOM (quality reasons). I do NOT recommend WCU.
I also pick UNECOM > KYCOM.
CUSOM? Required class attendance turns me off big time.
UIW? Curriculum seems impressive, but news schools are a big gamble.
Why don't we give UIWSOM a chance first before jumping to such rash conclusions?Like most religious institutions, UIW is a profit motivated beast in disguise, mired in layers of hypocrisy. In addition, their buildings aren't finished. Their clinical rotation agreements are unsigned. If you want to do FM in south texas, you'll be fine going there. Anyone else should probably give the Caribbean a look.
Any reason for why not WCU? I mean is there a thread that I should look at as to why you wouldn't recommend WCU...?

Poor COMLEX pass rates.
Any other reasons? Or links to some previous threads?
Such conclusions are reached from significant exposure and careful consideration of facts. Why don't we give UIWSOM a chance first before jumping to such rash conclusions?

This. I would choose UIW over the best Caribbean school. Easily.Lol this is generalizing quite a bit. Loma Linda is a pretty religious institution, and I don't think it's a hypocritical place to study. Not every school is like Liberty. As a Texan, I've seen the UIW campus (didn't apply), and I don't really see the facade. To tell someone to go to the Caribbean instead of an American school because you dislike the religious aspect of it is horrible advice.
