i am just reading sgu's web site, it seems that it is very important that the school is ACGME-approved.

so how many carribean schools are ACGME-approved ? can anyone tell me?

ACGME accredits residency programs, not medical schools, LCME does that, and the only LCME-accredited medical schools are all of the American, Canadian and Puerto Rican ones.

Yes, but it IS important to do your clerkships (3rd and 4th year) at ACGME-accredited clinical sites. This will help you immensely when you seek your medical license. While I don't know exactly which ones, apparently some states may refuse to issue a license to you straight out school if you have not completed a certain percentage of your core and elective clerkships at ACGME sites.

ACGME sites are those that have a residency program in the clerkship you are doing. Naturally, you get a better teaching experience during that rotation because it is, by definition, a teaching hospital that has specific staff to instruct you in the rotation you are doing.

do your clinical rotations at a hospital that is green booked! after applying for the match this year, i had programs contact me to ask me where i did my rotations. b/c i did them at a green booked hospital, they offered me interviews.

so no, it won't be held against you at some places, but it will open doors for you at others.

What doctim (aka turbo dog) says here is right on target.

Green book location is critical for your cores.

Programs range from less picky to not giving a rats ass
where you did electives.
