Which is more competitive em or im/em ?

Can anyone tell me which of the two residencies are more competitive? em or combined im/em?

Def EM/IM--there just aren't that many spots out there, so it's more competitive.

Yes, there are far more programs for EM compared to EMIM. However EMIM has a much smaller applicant pool. In general if you are not competitive for EM you are unlikely to get an EMIM spot; EMIM is similar to or a bit more competitive than EM.

The combined programs are pretty similar in competitiveness to straight EM. Some people say a little more, some people say a little less. There are fewer programs but there are also fewer people interested in spending an extra 2 years in residency for equal or less pay.
