Hi all! It's my very first post here..
I'm a Kuwaiti student, high schooler, and I'm considering to apply to medicine once I graduate this July .. With my overall expected grades of 98% I can apply for a scholarship from our Ministry Of Higher Education for the following medical schools:
1- Wayne State -US
2- Temple - US
3-Aberdeen- Scotland
4- RCSI-Ireland
5-UCD-Ireland
6-NUIG-Ireland
7-Calgary-Canada
8- RCSI-mub ( closer to me therefore better but I don't really care about distance)
So I'm kind of torn between my options and I did alott of research but couldn't make up my mind yet! would appreciate any piece of advice!
Oh and I do know what the medical path is for the stated countries and whether it was an undergrad/grad course.. Thanks in advance

Again i don't know if Calgary will accept someone straight from high school but out of your list Calgary is probably the best option. Its 3 years and its a Canadian medical school which is very prestigious. Otherwise, Temple is quite good as well. It all depends on where you want to practice.

If you are interested in staying in the UK go to Aberdeen if you are interested in staying in the US then one of the US schools. Go to the place where you want to stay. If you want to return home make sure the school you apply to is liked by your own country. Generally though, the US and Canada are very much in demand around the world.

Thanks for the help..
I will surely return back home to practice, and about Calgary I must first do the 4 yrs health science before progressing to the grad. Medical course but because I'm sponsored I won't have to compete I just have to bring the requirements..the same apply to the other US medical schools as well..
What do you think about RCSI-Bahrain? I know it's the least prestigious but does that affect the quality of education!

It shouldn't affect the quality of education, but a school in Canada or the US gives you more room.

I think if you go back to your home country none of these options would hurt you licensing wise and I don't think anyone will really care about the prestige of these schools themselves (the difference isn't huge enough).

But if you go and study in Canada or the US you will have it much easier if you want to practice in North America. The opportunities in North America are really immense.

So if you think you might want to practice more globally than studying in North America would be the best.

Dear Auu,

I would recommend applying to an Irish 6 year program since in the U.S. & Canada it would take you 4 years of undergrad + MCAT exam + 4 years of U. S. /Canadian medical school. So basically 8 years the North American route or 6 years the Irish route. I learned about 2 Kuwaiti doctors who both went to RCSI (Ireland) & are now practicing in Kuwait. Regarding RCSI Bahrain I've heard both good & bad (mostly political) but I'm not sure if the Irish Medical council approved the Bahrain campus or not.
