which letters should I use for med schools

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
1) Letters from people who know you well are better than letters from famous people who don't.

2) Letters must adhere to the school's standards (e.g., some require a humanities letter, so you'd have to send the one from the history prof)

3) If you have choices, it's great to combine letters from people who know you in different capacities. For example, if conditions 1 and 2 are met, you are better off sending a humanities prof letter, a science letter, and a letter from a doc you've worked with than just 3 letters all from science profs.

1) wow
2) I wish
3) that
4) I had
5) as many
6) letter options
7) as you
8) do.

Start off with meeting each school's requirements, and the pick the ones that you feel represent you and your ability to become a doctor best. You won't be able to use all 8, so think about what each letter might/does contain and go from there. You probably don't need to include the biochem/chem/pchem letters all at once, because they show your ability in chemistry, when one was probably enough to establish that. Play up your strengths!

So if I get one from my Econ professor would that count for humanities?

I doubt that econ would be considered humanities, but econ is a social science so it would count as a non-science letter.

what schools require humanities letter....b/c I dont have humanities. I didnt take that many humanities during undergrad, so I just got science professors that knew me to write one.

I personally like 1,2,4,7,8. but 4 only if they require a humanities one...8 will be great for personality and for diversity/standout factor. 1 and 7 show research and clinical experience. 2 is the science prof req u need.

Are you really asking someone else to visit school websites and find their letter requirements? For the schools that DO require humanities or non-science letters, your science letters probably won't make the cut. Best bet is to call to be sure.

Of course not, chill out.😎 I'm asking as a general question just to get an idea.
