I know it's a personal choice however, what is your low grade threshold? Thus far my sciences are: (original grade/repeat grade *- guess on grade **- haven't taken yet)
Nutrition A
Nutrition/performance A
Anatomy C/A
Physiology B
Kinesiology B+
Chem 1 B/B+
Foods and nutrition A
Work physiology B
Athletic Training Pharm: A-
Nutrition/herbal A-
Pathophys C-
Applied nutrition E/C+( I changed my mind about becoming a nutrition double major)
Physics 1 B/A-
Bio C+/A
*Orgo 1 B or B-
*Orgo 1 lab A or A-
**physics 2 (summer 2012)
**genetics (summer 2012)
**bio 2 (fall 2012)
**Orgo 2 (winter 2013)
**Orgo 2 lab (winter 2013)
**biochem (spring 2013)

Just the C- in pathophys. I wouldn't even worry about that C+. You have pretty good grades on your other classes, and you also have plenty of classes left to do well in.

I would probably retake pathophysiology and then just rock your current/future classes. Get extra help if you're currently at a B/B- in Orgo1 and aim for an A. I thought 2 was harder (maybe that's just me) so you'll want a good foundation in 1. Study hard! All your time and effort will be worth it 🙂

This. You're not the first and certainly not the last person to apply with a C+ for a grade (I have 2).

Only reason it is a B/B- is because I creamed one exam (the average was a 60% and I got a 65%) if not for that poor exam I would be much higher. Its too late for orgo 1 since the final is tomorrow (7 week course) if need by I could retake it in the fall.

I'll look into retaking patho. If I retake patho, I'll have to retake gen phys first since its been so long since I've had it. But that might not be bad. I might be able to take phys instead of bio 2 right?

Well, if it were me...Id decide how many credits I was taking first and then fill up the semester, starting with the lowest grades.

unless you were planning on taking other classes?

I know that feel.
Retake the lowest grade.
duh.

^that was insightful... Or not. I'm asking if you HAD too.

I know patho is my lowest grade, I'm just not sure if I'll be able to find a replacement class for it. I've looked at the two local universities and neither have it and the college I took it originally at is three hours away.
I can take other classes (micro, cell, retake phys) to combat for the inability to retake it, yay or nay?

just curious as to why you retook that B?

Same here... try and save grade replacement for courses that really need it. I have spoken with adcoms and they typically like to see less than 5-6 retakes. Not a rule of thumb, but just what I have been told.

I retook chem because I needed to refresh since the last time I took it was over 15 years ago.

Well, I got a B- in orgo 1 (4 credits) and an A- in lab (I'm trying to appeal for an A, 1 credit) so that makes the lowest semester GPA I've ever had, 2.9.

SO... the courses that are up to retake are:
physiology: B
Work Phys: B
Orgo 1: B-
Advanced nutrition: C+
Pathophys: C-

The "easiest" for me to retake are physiology, organic chem and POSSIBLY pathophysiology (I'd have to retake physiology), but I wont be able to fit them all in before the MCAT, but can before matriculation.

I'm already on board for orgo 1 again in the fall, as well as taking a biology. I'm looking for physiology but im not sure if I can take that.

First, finish all of the pre-reqs that you have not taken, and focus on getting good grades in those. Then, if you have the time, money, or an adcom recommends it, retake the pathophys.

Some schools won't accept a C- though. I still think it's in the best interest of the OP to retake that course regardless. It'll present more options when applying.

The reason why people only advise to retake a C or lower is because retaking a B doesn't add much more to your resume vs taking a new class and getting an A.

So retake Cs and below, and if you still need GPA repair, take new high level science courses and get As. It'll look much better than retaking a bunch of B's to the ADCOMs.

It depends on the school, and that usually only applies to required pre-recs.

Yup. I understand. I am a non trad who is applying in 2013. My cumulative gpa will not be affected by any changes to any grades, just my science gpa.

I can retake the c- in patho. However I'd have to retake phys then patho, and as it was pointed out, I don't really need patho to matter for anything.

Which "upper level" courses would be recommended besides genetics and biochem? I've looked at micro or cell but am pretty limited.
