I'm interested in finding out which medical schools produce overall the most well-prepared graduates for residencies. Is there a place where I can find data for this?

You can scrounge around for USMLE Step I scores, check out reputation among residency directors, look at match lists, etc...., but I would say none of those reflect the actual quality of medical education at a given school. It's not so much that the school makes the students, as it is the students (via self selection) make the school. Dig?

my tox path prof and a fellow student (at u of michigan) both recently told me that u of michigan produces book-smart docs that don't know how to deal with patients, that this lack of practical prep is a common gripe among residency sites.

US News puts out a report every year of top med schools in research and primary care. But like previous posters said, its more about which school fits you best. Each school has its ups and downs and you have to determine which school would suit your personality and learning style best not solely which one is ranked the highest. Because basically your going to learn the same information and your board scores and clinical rotations count the most toward residencies.

Thanks sheepunite. Does anyone else have info along these lines?

9. QFT = QFE for idiots. Devised by those who lack an understanding of the word "Emphasis". Quoted for Emphasis is essentially the same as Quoted for Truth, only it makes sense. If you are quoting something "for truth", you are quoting it for, get this - EMPHASIS.

'QFT' is usually used by children (i.e, under 13) who have clearly not had internet access long enough. Thus it is usually found on forums with something to do with children's games - namely CS, and various MMOs.

"u suck lol get a life!! u r so awseom lololr lmao"

QFT lol u rok lmao

:meanie:

  i should have read the whole thing.

I hate it when people abbreviate **** that is actually a meaningful sentence. Why would you abbreviate QFT? I can understand "lol" because typing that out just sounds dumb, but QFT is just lazy. Almost as bad as people that type "2" instead of "to".

There's a guy on SDN who posts pretty frequently, and he replaces "to" and "for" with "2" and "4" EVERY SINGLE TIME. And of course, "u" and "ur." If I were that guy's elementary school teacher I'd commit suicide from the shame.

Y?

It would have taken way less time to just type "quoted for truth" than to create that link to UD...
