i haven't taken the GRE and i wanna apply to several MPH programs. which MPH program takes the MCAT?
Good advice!Originally posted by lotanna
U of Michigan does, but the program directors dont encourage it tho, they dont want to be seen as a steppin stone for med schl

yeah, just take the GRE. mph isn't engineering school or anything, and programs aren't looking for a 2200+ score or anything. After taking one or two practice tests, you'll be ready to take it any day, its not bad at all. and like abw said, you can take it pretty much anytime you wont. I signed up for it 3 days before i took it

MPH programs take MCAT scores in place of GRE for people who have already been admitted to medical school or have just finished med school and want to spend a year or two studying for the MPH. I think you should take the GRE...it is cake compared to the MCAT and I think it would be to your advantage to score at least a 650 on each section to compete at the top schools of pblic health.

Happy New Year's all...
U. Mich's MPH program also accepts undergrads (I think they also let you substitute MCAT scores as well---just double check). U. Mich is generous with scholarships; my friend applied to their MPH program and got a full ride.

But I believe U Mich does NOT allow their MPH students to hold graduate (research, teaching, or other) assistantships. I know a few people at Minnesota who decided to come here rather than Michigan because of this. Not sure if they got scholarships to Michigan or not.

Not true, I know several students at the Umich MPH programs who had teaching assistanships in several depts such as chemistry and biology.

Do you guys think that a 27p (10V, 9B, 8P) is good enough to get into an MPh program, or should I take the GRE. I am considering Columbia, BU, etc. Thanks.
