Which NBME 3 or 4?

Personally, I don't think it matters which NBME you pick. All of the NBME exams produce normally distributed results. Therefore, theoretically taking any of these NBME exams should provide you with an adequate snapshot of your level of preparation before that NBME exam. But due to the variation in number of questions per discipline per NBME and variation in your level of preparedness can make the results skew slightly. For example if you are lagging behind in Ob/Gyn and very well prepared in Psych, and NBME3 has 3 less questions of Ob/Gyn and 3 more questions of Psych compared to NBME2, then your score in NBME3 will most likely be higher than NBME2.

For me, NBME4 = hardest, & NBME4 = longer questions.

thank you for your comment.

anyone else? i guess i'll stress the longer q's part more.. i am a slow reader and want to see how i'll do with these really long q's about how the patient has 3 dogs and 1 cat but the dogs love to play with the cat but only on tuesdays and thursdays...

after taking form 3, i'd say its Q's are much shorter than most on UW

i took nbme 3 about 3 weeks ago, and then delayed my exam by 3 weeks... and day before yesterday i took nbme 4...
nbme 4 definately has longer questions, Russianjoo!
my score went up quite a bit in the last few weeks, just hope it stays that way, exams in a couple of days!
good luck!
