I am creating my study schedule for my dedicated prep time and plan to take a NBME on my first day to get a baseline of where I am. I would appreciate any advice on the differences between the NBMEs. Now, as to my question, which would be the best to use to get a baseline score? I want something that will closely mimic the difficulty of the actual exam.

Also, how good are the UWSAs? Are they worth it?

NBME 7 is a good choice because it's not too old, but also not too new. That means you means you can save 11, 12, 13, 15 and 16 for closer to your exam.

Your next best, after 7, is NBME 11.

Most med schools are stupid and have kids sit 15 or 16 during the year, but these should be saved for right before the exam.

i am appearing for my CK before, step 1, in that case which nbme should I consider as a baseline for starting my prep ?

how is nbme 2,3,4 ....

Curious about this myself. Is NBME 7 generally regarded as the oldest-but-still-reliable test? I ask because I was planning on doing all, NBME 1 to most recent, during dedicated.

Does UWSA tell you which questions you got wrong and why, or is it a NBME kind of deal where it just shows you performance?

NBME7 is reliable.
UWSA is just like any other UW block. Just unique Qs assembled together. But unlike NMBEs you can review ALL the questions just like a block of UW.

Ah okay. Are they "must-do"s? I'm thinking I should take out some of the old offline NBMEs and sub in UWSA 1,2 instead...but..$120 ugh.

Step 2 CK itself, since I have not yet done step 1, shouldn't I be taking them... ?
You do realize that this is a Step 1 sub-forum.
You will get better answers if you post questions regarding Step 2CK in Step 2 sub-forum.
What do you mean by latest and old ones aren't these NBMEs consistently updated ?
No, there is nothing like updated NBME. The questions remain the same for that particular NMBE.
