I. antibodies
II. Actin and myosin
III. Collagen
IV. Hemoglobin

A. I and IV
B. II and III
C. I and III

my answer: B
Barron's answer: D

I think barron's answer is wrong b/c hemoglobin is a "cell" not protein. Am I right? Thanks!

The ans is A) I & IV because antibodies are immunoglobulins, so right off the bat, you know roman numeral I has to be among the answers, eliminating B & D, Collagen is a fibrous protein, not a globular one, Hemoglobin has a quaternary structure & is a globular protein, the root of the name also provides a hint: hemoGLOBin (globular) as a way of remembering it, so the ans is A

Like DJ said Ab's are immunoglobulins and are globular.

BUT, both Actin & myosin have globular portions (G-actin and the haed of myosin).

Collagen is a triple helix and would be considered a fibrous protein (I believe), so you can eliminate B.


No, hemoglobin is not a cell, it is a globular protein consisting of four subunits and a heme. It exists in RBCs and binds O2 & CO2 for transport through the blood.
 
Collagen = most fundamental fiborous protein around and hemoglobin is not a cell it is probably one of the more recognizable globular proteins along with myoglobin.
