II. NaCN
III. Na2CO3

The correct answer is II and III only. But why? how would you deduce this type of question. I am having with this type of problem. thanks!🙂
 
This is a simple question - easier than you may imagine. If placed in water, you will see that the salts in 2 and 3 are from a strong base and weak acid - so they would be overall basic. In 1 however, the salt is formed from NaOH and HNO3 (sodium hydroxide and nitric acid) - a strong base and a strong acid. Since they are both strong, they cancel each other out and the resulting salt will be neutral, not basic. Good luck studying!!
