I have four I definitely know I'm sending: Two from science faculty, and two from non-science faculty.
My undergraduate school prohibits me from sending any more than six, but from what I've read 6 might be too many and perhaps I should bump it down to 5.
I have the option of sending any of these following letters:
One from my academic advisor, who also employed me in a tutoring job and knows me the best out of the following options, and has confidence in my ability to become a physician.
One from a non-science faculty who, to my surprise, offered to a letter of recommendation for me when I went into her office one day. She turned the letter in FAST (within 2 days), and in that class I spent a great deal of time helping an asian student and an african american student succeed. I'm sure she has commented on that.
One from a MD (a surgeon) who I presume is very influential in the city and state's medical community (who adcomm members might recognize), who has treated me as a patient in the past, who I have shadowed on two occasions, and who I also mention in my PS. My concern with this letter is that he might not have had enough interaction with me and know enough about me to write a stellar letter (I'm certain my academic advisor does).
So, I could pick one and have a total of 5, or pick two and have a total of six letters. What do you think? Thanks.
