considering 4NH3 + 3O2 --> 2 N2 (g) + 6H2O (l), dH = -303 Kcal

which of the following will cause equilibirum to shift to the right?

b. selectively absorbing water

or

d. selectively abosrbing nitrogen

the correct answer is H2O, but why not absorbing nitrogen? Is it b.c it's a gas?

NOT SURE WITHOUT SEEING OTHER CHOICES BUT BOTH APPEAR CORRECT AS ANYTIME YOU REMOVE PRODUCT, YOU DRIVE THE EQUILIBRIUM TO ADJUST BY REACTING MORE AND CREATING MORE PRODUCT. QUALITATIVELY IT SEEMS THAT N2 GAS WOULD AUTOMATICALLY ESCAPE TO THE ATMOSPHERE AS IT'S A GAS AND WOULD THEREFORE PULL THE REACTION TO THE RIGHT.
