Which of the new MD schools suits me best?

Daddy. I want a goose that lays golden eggs, now!

What new MD schools and what list are you talking about?

I mean like Hofstra, Quinnipiac, Oakland Beaumont, Commonwealth, etc. my list is UNMC, SLU, Tulane, Georgetown, Loyola, Rush, Creighton, Rosalind Franklin, NYMC, and Miami

Oakland-B and Western MI.

I have a 511 MCAT(130, 127, 128, 126) and 3.9 cGPA and 3.9 sGPA. I have a love for serving others and also want a school with good hospital affiliations and clinical opportunities. Which of the new MD schools should I apply to? I'm looking to apply to about 2 of these new MD schools on top of my list of 10 other schools.

The only three I would consider are Quinnipac, Western Michigan and Oakland unless you are from Florida or have significant ties to the region.

How come you don't you have more top tier schools on your list?

You have a pretty large amount of high applicant, low yield schools on your list. If you can at all afford the fees I would add more schools, ~10 schools is a really small number to apply to and it's easy enough to get unlucky and have no II's or acceptances even if you're fairly well qualified. I have no idea what the grading scale of the new mcat is so I can't really say what schools fit you stat wise.

12 schools is not a sufficient number to apply to with a 31 MCAT, especially when around half of them get over 12K applications a year.

what undergrad are you from? you need to apply to at least 20 (and probably 30) med schools to have a chance.

lol no he/she doenst.

31 MCAT equivalent and a 3.9 gpa? OP needs to apply to 30 medical schools to have A chance? Those stats are higher LizzyM score than MD matriculant.

let's just say one of the schools on my list is where I go for undergrad and they give really strong preference for med school to students who went there for undergrad. So I was advised to apply to around 10-15.

Uhh let's chill

Yes applying to 12 schools is a bad idea. Saying you need to apply to 30 schools to have a chance with a 3.9/31? That's just spreading nonsense.

Exactly how I feel about that comment.

What are the average stats for your undergrad's med school?

20-25 is a reasonable range for an applicant like you. Any less than that is risky

The Median MCAT is a 30 and Median GPA is a 3.8. If you went there for undergrad you can get by with way less, like a 27 on MCAT and 3.5 GPA

Yea, but saying OP needs 30 to just have a chance is overdoing it dont you think?

Yes, that is a bit much, but remember that the poster who made that comment said "at least 20" first, though the "probably 30" is pushing it a little.

I'm skeptical, but I would still apply to around 20 schools if that's the case. No sense making your cycle riskier than it has to be.

Hofstra(median MCAT 34). I wouldn't bother with Georgetown unless there is something you really like and know what you're getting into with Loma Linda.

Otherwise that list is fine. You can add Wake Forest, Quinnipac, Emory(maybe), Rochester(maybe), Eastern Virginia if you need a few more or want to replace the ones I listed above to take out.

Thanks for the input. I think I may take Hofstra off but keep Georgetown. I've looked into Loma Linda a decent amount and I think I'll be fine with their rules and all that if I get accepted. I already have Quinnipiac on my list.
