Hey guys, I'm looking for some good advice. My mom as of lately has been on my case about the whole doctor thing, and has had several nurses in our neighborhood talk to me about just becoming a nurse instead of a doctor. They all point out the same things, and I see that they all have good points. If I did take the nurse route I would still be able to be an artist and have all the adventures I want to embark on, I also would be able to be with my kids more - when I eventually do, have kids [very much later down the road].
The only thing to this is that I feel like I would never be satisfied if I just became a nurse instead of a doctor. I would love, love, love to be a doctor. - I don't have anything against nurses at all, I just think because my sights are set at this level already I wouldn't want anything else but to be a doctor.
I'm conflicted. I could see the benefits of being a nurse already in play and how being a doctor would take some of the other things in life away. I don't know which way to go and I feel like I should some footing in one of the two directions before I declare myself a full on pre-med student this next fall or enroll in the nursing program at my college.
What are your thoughts? Nursing or the Works of Medicine? Which way would you guys lean towards if you where in my spot?

If you want kids, you can take a leave of absence from medical school. I know people who have done this between the 2nd and 3rd years of school. Residency is not such a good time for kids, though. So plan accordingly.

you can still do all that stuff as a doctor.

you might have to go into fp/im/peds/etc and not neuro, but it's doable.

You both have great points, I think I just got a little overwhelmed and needed a little back up to help me get my head straight again, I can make this all work out.
Sticking to the Pre-med side of life, and nursing, well it's not part of the picture anymore.
thanks guys!
