This is what I'm looking for:

1) Listing of common diseases
2) Description of symptoms
3) Description of signs
4) Description of pathophysiology
5) Description of complications
6) Listing of possible treatments

I figure I can use the free epocrates program for drugs, so drug information is not really necessary in this package.

Which software is the best for this, and how much does it cost?

if I'm not mistaken the pay for play version of epocrates will give you all of this information, you may also want to check out skyscape for some of their software titles which are more specialty specific. i don't know the prices off hand.

if you have isilo clipper you can "clip" pages from emedicine and load them onto your handheld to view in isilo. plucker is another program that allows you to do this and I think is freeware so you can "pluck" any website to view offline on your handheld.
