that's probably a PhD in pharmacokinetics, pharmaceutics, pharmacology, or toxicology...most of the professors back in school time had such degrees...

There is actually a variety of Ph.D. in pharmacy degrees. I know because our pharmacy management professor was a Ph.D. in pharmacy (non-clinical, couldn't practice, knew three drugs as he said - Lipitor, Viagra and something else I cannot recall anymore). And here are some sites:
