HI all
i'm an msIII who is currently picking 4th yr rotations. I'm interested in pathology but am not sure where I should do my pathology rotation. I'm from a do school and didn't score so impressively on comlex I so I am worried if I will match. I want to do my residency in ny or nj ; basically the tri state area so i am looking into programs in those places. Where should I do my path rotation? I want to make sure I do it in a program where I might possibly match so somewhere that is receptive to do's. Thanx

As far as I know, there aren't many programs that don't interview DOs. Whether there is bias or not, I can't tell you. But the day I interviewed at MGH there was a DO candidate also interviewing. And I interviewed with a DO attending at at least one place.

Pathology seems to be a field were the name of your school and whether your a DO or MD doesn't matter too much. They care more about past academic performance and future potential. More evidence that Path is superior to all other fields!

There's a resident DO/PhD in the path department at the NIH.

I am a DO and found no significant bias in pathology. You should apply to whichever program you like whether you feel they are "D.O. receptive" or not. I would suggest rotating at the programs in which you may be interested. They are more likely to match you if they are familary with you.

I am a fourth year at NYCOM going through the process right now. If you want the skinny on the procedure, local programs, elective advice, pm me...
