Which rapid review?

While searching on Amazon, I noticed that they carry 2 books for Rapid Review Path by Goljan. One appears to be a strictly question book while the other seems like something that I could use much like a BRS book. Which one is better to use?

Top one is 2nd edition, bottom is 1st edition. Both are pathology review books in outline format, with questions, too.

I'd go with the top one. 😉

Domer and others, I already have the older one, why do you think the 2nd edition is better?

Please be as detailed as possible in explaining, I am more than willing to buy it, but I'm not sure if it is worth it, or if the increased length of the second one is going to be detrimental...pros and cons from anyone/everyone would be awesome!

Hi Stretch,
The 2nd edition seems a lot more complete than the first, and it includes a larger portion of high-yield material. It is a very large book, but it doesn't focus on minute pathology details. There is a lot of micro and physio in the book, as well. It's also pretty much in entirely outline format, so you can go through it fairly quickly.
I love the addition of full-color pictures, too. It helps to visualize a lot of these things. I think you should check it out at your school library if possible.
It's also $1 cheaper than the 1st edition!

well that makes sense. I was under the impression that the older version was ONLY a question book while the newer book contained questions and HY notes from Goljan

Skyline, the question book I think you're referring to is called Rapid Review for the USMLE Step 1. It was published in 2002 and contains 7, 50 question tests and a cd-rom with 1050 questions. I've flipped through it and the questions seem pretty solid. I know it's a few years old, but I bought it new off Amazon for $20.
