Coming out of 3rd year what rotation would leave me with the most step-2 knowledge?

IM? FM? Doesn't matter?

It probably does not matter, but I would vote for IM in the latter part of MS3 (January - May).

Rotations that you took early in MS3 will likely be your weakest. For instance, when you start doing practice questions, you might not be too good at psych questions because it was your first clerkship.

FM with a good FM residency program. I did one the end of M3 that allowed me to rotate through one week of pediatrics, one week of OB/Gyn, and two weeks of inpatient medicine. Clinic in the afternoons 4 days a week was a mixed bag of everything.

It's good review for Step 2.

For me the breakdown was about 30:15:15:15:15:5:5 Medicine:Surgery:OB/Gyn😛eds😛sych:Neuro:Other.

I think an Emergency Medicine rotation may be the most high yield because you see common (ie. high yield) diseases from all specialties.

Probably IM. However, I did IM first and I think it's a great way to start the year because it gives you a broad foundation that's applicable to every other 3rd year rotation (even some peds stuff). You never really stop medicine, so I don't think you'll forget a ton of it before Step 2 just because you had it early.
