Hi all.

Like a lot of you, I plan to apply to dental school this cycle. I will try to get a dental assisting position back at home as soon as I finish undergrad in june.

So here is my question. I heard that having dental assistant experience is really beneficial for your chances if its on your apps. However, I also realize that it is advantageous to submit your apps as soon as possible.

Assuming I can get a dental assisting position as soon as I finish school in june, would it be better to turn my apps in mid July so I can put on it that I have dental assisting experience (and will continue gaining experience in the gap year) or would it be better to turn the apps in June?

applying early would be more beneficial. You can always send schools and update on your jobs/ecs later, but once you miss the first few batches of mail-in date, you run the risk of being late.
plus, a lot of adcoms say that dental assisting job isn't really necessary.

Applying early. You will send emails to update schools and tell them once more during interviews.
