Option 1:

Microbiology, Legal Environment of Buisnesses, Economics, Korean II, and Writing 340.

Option 2:

Microbiology, Physiology, Economics, Writing 340.

My undergrad advisor told me not to take both micro and physio together because that would mean I'd have 3 labs per week. Option 1 would be easier since there is only 1 science course, and thus higher GPA. Or should I take Option 2 and show dental schools I've been takin upper divs?

take physiology, although challenging i feel it is an essential class and plus it will prepare you well for physiology and anatomy in dental school. it is too bad you have to take a lab with it though, our school has the lecture and lab as two separate classes and only the physio majors have to take the lab. i think physiology is more important/useful than legal environment and korean, just my opinion though.

I would say suck it up and take physiology. Do you have a lab with mirco? If not then it is doable. If you do then you might have to spend lots of time studying, but it is worth it. I think if you can get A's in both classes it will help you out a lot. Try to learn physiology well, you'll see it on the DATs.

I say go a different route...take 2 classes at night and get a full time job.

Microbio at my school has two 3 hours labs per week. 😡 I know physio is important but I think it can wait till senior year. I've already taken the DAT's and I didn't think there was that much physio in the bio section, (maybe just my test though). Only reason I would bother taking physio now is to get an edge as an applicant.

Do d-schools favor applicants who have taken more upper div sci classes, or is it just a numbers game where high GPA's is all that matters? Cause if its just a numbers game, I might as well take korean and buisness law and score A's. Granted it has no relevance to D-school, but who cares right? As long as I pump up that GPA.

adcoms definitly look at the quality of your classes when making their decision. many school websites say such things as "we strongly reccomend taking biochem, micro, physiology, histology..." however if you plan on taking it senior year they will be able to see that in the section of the application dedicated to 'classes planned'. i didn't realize you still have a year left after this to take classes, i would say it would be fine to wait until senior year on physio if you wanted to. just as long as you do take it then.
