I have searched a lot for about these two schools. I got accepted into these two schools and now I am confused which school is better to choose. I would like to here your opinion. Is anyone been through the same situation as me ?

In the current rankings, WSU is ranked 32. The MCPHS-Worchester is not officially in the rankings but the Boston Campus is ranked #61. Of course, there are varying opinions on what these rankings mean.

Are you a Michigan resident? If so, WSU will be alot less expensive than MCPHS.

I know someone who graduated from MCPHS 2-3 years ago and he did not like the accelerated three year format. He also wishes he would have went to a less expensive school.

Thanks for reply. I am not from Michigan. I am an international student. I do not know which school i should choose bcz Worcester is less expensive than wayne state but wayne is a good ranking school. So i am trying to gether more information and asking around ppl's opinions on these two schools..

It is my understanding that the cost of living in Worcehster is really high. You might want to do some research on the cost of living differences between Worchester and Detroit. You might want to factor that into your financial analysis.

Wayne would be the better choice unless you like attrition rates over 10%.

From a soon to be Wayne State graduate:

Wayne State is nationally recognized for excellence. Our graduates are highly competitive on a national level for residencies. You'll have the opportunity to do your clinical rotations at some very well known academic hospitals including the Detroit Medical Center, Henry Ford Health System, and Beaumont Hospital. Yes, Detroit itself is not a great town to live in but the suburbs are very nice AND inexpensive. You will also get the opportunity to serve the undeserved. THIS IS WORTHWHILE TRUST ME. I can't say I know much about MCPHS-Worcester but I hear they have a rather high failure rate....

Also, Wayne State is a very challenging program, but I would go through with it again for sure. If you want to be a top-notch pharmacy practicioner upon graduation, I guarantee Wayne State will have you prepared.

Good luck in your choice.

I know nothing about Wayne State, but I do know Worcester has a bad reputation.

are you deriving this from previous posts from a few years ago? Those threads are kind of old, I'm assuming Worcester has improved. Plus, I have not seen any recent negative posts concerning Worcester.

Where are these attrition rates coming from?

Previous posts, no; MCPHS improved, maybe....I wouldn't know. I'm just an average PharmD applicant. Part of my personal obligations was to conduct an extensive research on the schools that captured my interest. MCPHS was one of them. And this is simply in terms of the program quality.

I did come across a lot more negative feedbacks than positive for MCPHS. The image it planted in me was that they will make sure you get that degree in three years, and also pass your NAPLEX. But the educational method via which you get it is/was very discouraging. Of course, I could be wrong.

Nonetheless, I still applied anyway...and I am yet to respond to an interview invite. Two acceptances so far, I might have to decline it eventually...but the "pharmd in three years" perk is a bit hard for me to bypass.

Electrode: Do you have a BS in something or did you complete the pre-pharmacy courses (and where if you dont mind me asking) I am currently working as an x-ray technologist and have a associates in applied science but want to apply to pharmacy school. How were your grades and where else did you apply? If I applied to the worcester program, I would need to complete about 12 classes, if applying to boston, it would be 6 but then I would be in a longer program. Any advice would be very helpful!!!!!

At one point or another, there was a current MCPHS Worcester student who started a thread that put the program in a very negative light for many different reasons. They may have worked things out, but it's never good to have current students telling others NOT to attend their school.

Wayne State has a lot to offer. As someone already mentioned, there are a few world class hospitals in the area that provide great opportunities for rotations. The facilities are also relatively new. Detroit may not be the most inviting city, but they are doing a lot to revive the downtown area over the next few years.
