USC vs UCSF vs UCSD....which school is more competitive in terms of academics, grading scale, overall course work...i heard UCSD has a pass/fail system to promote a friendly environment with your classmates and to not be so competitve...i am curious as to how competitive USC and UCSF are ... 😕 thnx for your inputs!

When i went to the USC interview, the current pharmacy student who I talked with kept emphasizing the ease of competition in their pharmacy school, totally unlike undergraduate experience in other college. They also said that everybody pretty much just want to graduate and is willing to help each other. So, I would say you shouldn't be concerned about USC's curriculum.

I hope USC could pull me off its waitlist. 🙁

Competitive in terms of grading pass or fail in classes?

Or Competitive in terms of getting into the school?

Really? UCSD is pass/fail???
I had no idea.

for our school......
I think it depends on the class of people you enter with, as for our class, we seem to be *really* super*duper* considerate of each other, helpful, and resourceful.... everyone sends out study sheets, old exams, etc, and one of the fraternitities tries to make it a point to create survival guide CDs for each class, so that it's available to everyone. I know I really appreciate my classmates for their help and their amazing charts and notesheets!

Everyone definitely does work REALLY hard, though (I think we have to to keep up), but it is not to the detriment of classmates individually- there's a good deal of balance between social and academic focus, i think.

Also, there are only 122 of us at UCSF (compared to a larger class size at USC and UOP, where people I know who go there don't know the names of their classmates) and UCSD is even smaller, so you definitely get to know the people in your class and can't just hide behind numbers. Our year, the upperclasspeople really tried to ingrain in us the idea that this isn't undergrad and so we're not here to sabotage each other so that we can stand out individually.
