Do any of you know which schools are willing to talk to an applicant about his or her application before a decision is made? (suggest areas of improvement, divulge reasons why they may be on hold, etc.) I know MWU-AZ will and Buffalo wont.

I just got back from UNLV and they mentioned my outstanding pre-reqs. And by that, I mean 'not completed' pre-reqs... not my amazing selection thereof 😛 I backloaded by 4-year schedule with sci courses since I took mostly GEs in the beginning while I worked full time. They mentioned in the statistics overview that outstanding pre-reqs play a somewhat significant role in their applicant evaluations. So, I'll send them my Fall transcript mid-Dec. I'm just hoping this doesn't mean I'll be on hold status come Dec 1. I didn't think to ask this question in the interview, but I will be asking it, so I'll let you know what I find out.

Wouldn't they grant you a conditional acceptance? ie. You have a spot, but only once you show us that you've finished these courses will you be allowed to register?

Hopefully that would be the case, but I didn't hear any mention of a conditional acceptance, only a hold. That's something I'll have to ask them. That would certainly make it a lot easier to decide on Dec 1 if it turns out I get conditionally accepted to UNLV and accepted to another of my top-choice schools.

I believe most schools won't discuss your application during the application cycle. They will usually talk to you before you apply and after a rejection, but not during an open cycle.

most schools usually dont have the resources to speak many individual students about their application.

How many people were at your UNLV interview? how'd it go?
