I realize that some dental schools are starting to require upper level science classes (i.e.-Michigan Dent requires microbiology).

I was wondering if schools are starting to require Human Anatomy, i.e.-will schools eventually require it in the next two years? I ask this because my adviser recommended to get into Human Anatomy junior year spring (right after taking human physiology in the fall). My idea was to try to get into Senior spring for the reasons being that is would be a very difficult course (while concurrently prepping for the DAT if I took it junior year) and on primarily because it would be nice to take it senior spring right before dental school starts. The only problem that may arise is that if the class gets full, there is a chance I may not get to take it senior spring, which I won't worry too much about, unless it was a req for the dental schools I apply to.

Thanks

Taking anatomy in undergrad significantly reduces the amount that the course will kick your ass in D-school. I doubt many schools will require it, but they probably should.

Well, do you know the list or could you reference a link that shows specific requirements for dental schools ON TOP of the 32-credit (bio, orgo, gen chem, phys) requirements?

Of the schools I applied to... Midwestern and Indiana both require Anatomy

I thought we tried to convince you to do medical. Looks like it didn't work. One last plea - please do medical.

Although anatomy can be a very tough course it is highly recommended for dental school because it will ease your pain when you take anatomy your first year. You need to check the individual requirements of each school, like was mentioned you should invest in the ADEA guide to dental schools.

Wait, I just re-read your post. If you are planning on taking anatomy anyway, you don't need to worry about when you take it - as long as it's before you start dental school.

i know midwestern and indiana both require anatomy
VCU requires biochem

And, like all of the pre-reqs, they require that it be taken at a 4-year college or university.

I'm transferring to a 4-year that doesn't offer an anatomy class, but that's partly because it recently opened. should i worry, or would an anatomy class at a community college be okay? opinions?
