Hey everyone,
I'm a Canadian applicant and I am graduating this spring 2021 from my BSc with a specialization in genetics from a Canadian university. I have yet to decide which American schools I want to apply to as I've been focused on the Canadian universities first and don't know how to start even figuring out which schools I should apply for based on my stats. I've tried a couple of those online predictors, but many don't allow an input for international students and are giving me really low chances for most schools which has me a bit concerned.
I've also applied to some masters programs because I'm not sure if my application would be strong enough without it.
Stats:
- cGPA: 3.75, sGPA: 3.8
- MCAT 514 (129, 129, 128, 128)
- Paid as a research assistant in the same lab for 3 years (part time throughout the school year and full time for three summers) = will be authored on 3 papers by the summer and have presented on my research at a festival
- Did a study abroad semester in England first semester of my third year and played soccer for the university team there
- Female Metis Canadian (unsure if this correlates to the US?)
- Also held jobs as a waitress and in retail throughout my undergraduate
- Will have only around ~50 hours clinical shadowing by the time applications open
- Volunteer for kids science camp for one summer, was hoping to do it again last summer but was unable to due to COVID
Would love some input on what my chances are like as an international student to begin with and which schools I should start looking at. Thank you in advance!
