Im re-taking science courses that I took freshman year. Also do they have to be completed by a certain time. Does it matter if they are re-taken at a 2 year institution rather than a 4 year? etc. Thanks 🙂

Minnesota offers you the option of replacing a grade if it is several (I don't remember how many off the top of my head, I think it might be 3+) years old.

I believe KSU and Western replace. Might want to double check that though.

Mississippi gives an interesting option for bad grades. You can basically start and any year, and they will only incorporate from that point on. In other words, if your freshman and sophomore years are horrid, and you started over, they will count from your junior onward.

There is a caveat however - ALL of your required classes must be retaken from that point on. If you have an English or math class from freshman year, you would need to retake it.

I am sure there are some other nuances to it, but thats the gist as it was explained to me.

They also take the higher of your 2 grades for your science and math average (but average all grades when calc. your GPA)

I know Kansas does. I already emailed them and they confirmed🙂

I sorta posted a question like this under another topic but if retaking a class how do you figure the new grade into your GPA on the VMCAS since some schools replace it, some schools average it, etc??

Thankyou everyone 🙂 This helps a ton! If there are any others you think of please post them here! I knew Kansas was one of them, since I had a file review with them and they mentioned it. However, I don't think Kansas ever mentioned this on their website, so I would have never known if it wasn't for that file review! If I find anymore, I will also post them here 🙂

Hi Ellehan, I remember from last years VMCAS, you must enter the classes you took for every semester as well as the grade...and I believe you could also flag a course as a repeat. As for the GPA itself, I believe I entered whatever was on my transcript..I didn't re-calculate the GPA, factoring in re-takes, since some schools average the re-take and others take the higher grade. Each vet school will re-calculate your GPA anyway...so just enter the GPA listed on your transcript.
