Ive always been curious which science GPA each dental school likes to focus on?

I know for a fact that UOP emphasizes BCP GPA (undergrad coursework only) with +/- included.

Please share with us what youve heard or know about other dental schools.

BCP and Biology GPA.

You guys are not adcoms. How do you know they dont?

NO we're not. But they already have a lot of numbers to look at. Your overall GPA, your science GPA, your BCP, your DAT AA score, your PAT score, etc.

If the Biology GPA was so important, they would have made the AADSAS calculate it for them already, but they didn't.

They won't waste their time calculating thousands of applicant's Biology GPAs.

Wait, I'm sorry. I'm not adcom. I do not know if they do or not, but I do know that most people would not go out of their way to make their job harder...

Are you part of an adcom?

To the OP: whether you believe me or not, they do look at your Biology GPA.

I rest my case here. I dont want to get in a long discussion with some guy on the Internet.

In other words, you have nothing left to say, so you will say nothing.

It's true because I say so, even if I'm not part of adcom, nor I have any evidence of my statement, and everyone else is wrong because they are not part of an adcom, is your argument. 👍

Wizi, I get that you don't want to get in to a whole big thing on SDN so I'll just get right down to the nuts and bolts of it.

I've never heard of a Biology GPA, would you mind sharing where you heard about ADCOMs calculating it?

First, i got rejected from XXX school this cycle (not so proud of it...). I emailed the dean, he said "...your Biology and BCP GPAs both..." (its in quote)

Second, I went to see a dean of my state school, he said they actually calculate your BCP and Biology separately.

I understand that no one on SDN ever talked about it but it doesn't mean Bio GPA doesn't exist. Anything is possible nowadays. We never know what is under the table.

Thanks for the reply. I apologize. You learn something new every day 🙂

But I guess if your BCP is low, your Biology GPA is probably low too, since most of us are Biology majors.

pics or it didnt happen

^_^;;

Sorry to revive an old thread but I just found out about the Bio GPA today while looking at the PDF version of my application on the AADSAS portal (go to Dental School Designations as if you were going to add another school and click the Application PDF image to open the file)

Anyways, pics so it did happen!
