For me:

dermatology, opthalmology, cardiology, and endocrinology. (I'm talking about percentiles).

Mad at my school right now for not giving us a course on dermatology and optho. 😡

My school gave us a 2 week class on opthalmo in the middle of the summer right before 3rd year (you think I learned anything?).

We also had a full semester coarse on derm, however there was only one test at the end of the semester (and many other test and classes that were more important throughout the year). You think I waited till the week before to start studying derm (like the rest of my class)? Of course I did. And did I learned anything? NOPE!!!

Weakest section (by percentile):
Biostatitics: the study designs and the kind of error and all that nonense always gets me. I understand the definitions; but when they put it in a situation, they always get me.

Opthalamology: the lowest

GIT (however i've only had 29 questions while doing 1031 random questions)

Respiratory

cardio came in 2nd.

i haven't done neuro, hemonc, ophtho yet.
but i bet they'll have me by my balls

some of this crap is so stupid,
e.g in the hepatology section......... you're not supposed to do anything for 6 weeks about pancreatic pseudocysts if they are less than 5cm.

come on... are we supposed to know that kind of crap?

well doc, the pseudocyst is 4.9899cm. leave it alone! 👎

ridiculous. i hope this kind of crap is not on the real CK

i just finished a block of hepatology with a whopping 50%. that's like a Fail, or minimal pass

I guess that makes hep one of my lowest scores.

i'm stupid.

i like this thread. i'll use it to vent my fury!!

I second that. Although I get more questions right compared to Step1, I still can´t loose the feeling that I´m gonna screw this test up. Especially Ob/Gyn, Respiratory (got an asteriks on Step1 ) and ID are giving me a hard time.

My exam is on July 31st, and since I´m starting with a surgery elective on August 18th and have to move, there is no room for postponing the exam.
(not that I think a week or two would make such a difference)

I have 899 Questions left, but I have my doubts that I´ll be able to do more than 2 blocks for the remaining days.

Then again, I remember I felt worse before Step1 and scored a solid 95.

i start in detroit on aug 1st and my test is next friday, i already went through the crazy manic i need to reschedule episode

i stopped doing random timed, and started going through subjects in tutor mode, its faster and i actually learn because the repetition within questions

plus i am getting a better sense of what is going to be tested on and what isnt

and its easier to see which questions are absolutely *****ic

well, after that dismal 50% on that block of hepatology, I did the final block of hepatology and sorta redeemed myself with a 90%.
I still didn't know chit, but a lot of answers on this block could be reasoned out with little book knowledge.

time to move onto the next topic and get clobbered once again.......

506 more questions to go.

Sounds like a good idea to do the questions by subject untimed. I've been doing random timed since the beginning. And it is kind of hard to study because I tend to jump all over the place. However, the only reason I like doing timed because it is training to think quickly (I'd might be able to answer most of the questions if I put a little time and more thought into them, however I won't have that much time on the test). Maybe I will alternate between timed and untimed. We'll see.....I feel I have so much still to review. My test is July 31st and I'm getting nervous.

Ok, for some reason Peds and heme onc are really easy for me, but Cardio and Renal have all of a sudden started to bite me in the bum

ID is the bane of my existence right now. Keeping all of those antibiotics straight is really making me nervous. though diagnosis isn't that bad sometimes, trying to choose the right antibiotic combo for these questions is just crazy. ah!!!

ID was a struggle.
but kaplan simplifies the abx somewhat.

i can't get 100%. so i guess i'll just make sure i know when there's staph, and when there's pseudomonas, and the meds for those. and when to use combos. hopefully that will get me by.😡

I'd definitely have to say cardiology. I really struggle with that, even though many of the concepts seem ( "seem" ) pretty straight forward. Additionally, I'm not good at reading EKGs right now, and this concerns me.

I'm going to have to devote some time to cardio before my test.

I took the test last week and there was only 1 EKG on my exam. Also, the cardio questions were nothing like UW...much more realistic. So don't devote too much time. 😉

I took mine also last week, and I had 3 EKG's on the whole thing. Kind of disappointing really.

how much neuro did you have your tests?

i don't know chit with UW neuro. almost every single question seems foreign. it's pissing me off immensely.
and kaplan seems useless, as it doesn't go over blood supply.
