So far I've been accepted to a few SMPs. I'm leaning towards either GT or EVMS. Was rejected from Cincy 🙁

EVMS's MM has a much higher linkage than GT's SMP.

I think you need to take a couple of factors into consideration.

1) Do you care which medical school you go to? If not, then EVMS would be the clear winner here.

2) How much does cost of attendance matter to you? If so, then GT would probably be a wiser choice. GT is the most well known SMP, and as such, will likely strengthen your application to your home state schools. EVMS, on the other hand, feeds the majority of their successful students into their home medical school.

3) Which environment do you perform better in? I've heard EVMS is located in a gentrified neighborhood, whereas GT is located in the urban Washington DC.

It's impossible for us to give you a clear answer....both are fantastic programs. In the end, it's up to you to decide what is most important to you.

It depends on your stats. I would say that if you have above a 3.5 cGPA/BCPM GPA and at least a 30 MCAT, then you could go to Georgetown and have a reasonable chance of getting into medical school.

If your stats are lower than that and you just want to get into at least one medical school (EVMS), then EVMS is the wiser choice. Even then, it's nowhere near a guarantee. Rumors are that around 32ish were accepted into EVMS from the class of 40 MM students. With the increase to 50-55 students, people are speculating that they will likely keep it at around 32ish students getting accepted into the MD program. However, no one really knows. Many people in the EVMS program turned down GT and vice versa so it's mainly just personal preference and how risk adverse you are.

Btw, it does seem like EVMS is becoming more competitive. Less applicants are coming off the waitlist...probably because they have a completely brand new medical building which people are impressed by.

You should have a paper split down the middle, list courses, COA, and any incidentals for each school. Your answer depends on your reasons for doing the SMP, and limitations therein - bearing that in mind, look at this paper and the decision should be clear.
