Some specialties require Internal Medicine residency before you begin your specialty training (e.g. oncology), and some specialties do not (e.g. radiology). Where can I find a list of which specialties fall into each category? I am talking about the US.

You can look at this list and to the right of the specialty in gray-text is the training that precedes that particular specialty; e.g. Adolescent Medicine | Pediatrics
If there is no gray text next to the specialty, it is a standalone training pathway; e.g. Emergency Medicine | (nothing)
There is also a convenient tab to the right of the specialty list with "specialty paths" you can look through.

Those are the IM subspecialties (might have forgotten one or two). Basically if you want to be system specific you need to specialize.
Google "washu residency roadmap specialty descriptions" and click the first link. That will give you a list of all the major residencies and have a decent but non-comprehensive list of fellowship opportunities.
