I'm guessing neurosurgery, no?

For 'good girls': something that's a mix of decent income and interaction with children... my guess would be a pediatric surgeon who repairs heart problems or something cheesy like that.

For sloots: plastic surgeon.

Derm because you work minimal hours with minimal residency years so you can spend a lot of time with your significant other. Oh and $300k/year sounds pretty good too.

I'm a guy, but my guess would be the one with the fewest douchebags and/or whatever specialty I choose. #baller

+1. To repeat GoSpursGo's signature, which quotes OldBearProfessor, "Girls like softy guys - they fall for pediatricians! Go volunteer in a newborn nursery and practice changing diapers. Then you can tell your girl that, well, if, the situation were to arise, you can change diapers and put babies to sleep. She'll fall for you immediately. Just don't mention that pediatricians are really, really poor and only can drive old cars and wear stupid bow ties.

Cosmetic surgery. I have a high school classmate who went into that field and at every reunion, he has a different (and stunning) trophy blond on his arm.

I'm guessing neurosurgery, no?

According to medscape, the mean salary is a little over $280k. I don't think that's "way off."

According to AAMC:

Oh neat, how does one access that information

Edit: Nevermind I'm dumb, I just needed to log in.

I'm a girl. I thought it was Plastic Surgery. All the girls on that trashy Real Housewives shows are ALL married to Plastic Surgeons...

I can't believe nobody has mentioned anesthesiology or orthopedics (sports medicine).

Edit in 2015: LOL why did I said that?

Specialties most likely to have a quality woman drop by for lunch and see you do something looking really smart, like the magic of repleting electrolytes, writing a prescription or order that someone else has to follow, or meeting up for dinner at 6PM when most professionals don't get out anywhere nearly that early to be ready for that goes a long way. If your clothing, whether a often pressed suit or a spotless lab coat over scrubs you also have professionally cleaned and pressed, looks like you're an important person to be taken seriously, you can do well in any specialty, but the ones allowing to be seen as the above as much as possible are the ones most likely to yield the most women.

I'm not sure if this was meant as a joke, if so forgive me, but I don't see why it's only possible to meet women by impressing them in the workplace.

I agree. I actually mixing work with women can be a dangerous cocktail.

Plus, there's always brunch!

I second cosmetic surgery. Almost every girl I talk to who is removed from the medical field and doesn't know much about it tells me to become plastic surgeon when I tell them that I don't know what specialty to pick yet.

Certified girl here. Step-by-step guide to pick up babes:

Step 1: be attractive
Step 2: don't be unattractive
Step 3: ????
Step 4: profit/babes

😵
Finally a breath of fresh air in this god forsaken thread.

where did you find that table? could you provide a link? I can only see number of hours and residency training years but can't see average step scores or salary info in the link I have on aamc

You can only access it as a medical student... one of the perks I guess. I don't think AAMC wants to make the data public, which is probably a good thing.

+1 Same here. When I use to work at this one place I was the only male (I wish the ladies were hot, though. 😳:pirate:) and when I mentioned maybe plastic surgery was one of my choices, all of them pile up saying they would like to be a patient of mines in the future.

To be more specific, having a woman stop by for lunch/brunch and see you in all your glory running the show is one of the better ways if you have the game to be subtle. You can wear your clothing after leaving work to have more interesting results, depending upon where you try to wear them. Professional attire can get a good type of attention no matter whether at the grocery store or bar, but scrubs probably won't get you the same results. A true pimp can make things happen no matter where you're at. Be attractive in your grooming, dress and how you carry yourself, always. By the way, most surgeons can't just casually get random women into the OR to impress them and you definitely can't carry on a casual conversation there most of the time, so that's why I opt for more outpatient settings.

Having a female see something medical on you ask you a medical question then engaging you in a conversation about it for 5 minutes should prompt you to ask to continue it at a later time unofficially "in a more private setting because there are laws about this kind of stuff" and get her number or the number of the daughter she quickly volunteers along with a few pictures of her she has handy can happen and happened to me often. You've already gained more ground there than on a few expensive first dates, why let it go to waste by not asking to talk to them again?

Don't get into medicine if you're only goal is to get "chicks".
Hmm, you may be right. Well I tried being an Abercrombie & Fitch model to get all the hot babes, but I couldn't afford biceps and pectoral implants. Medicine seemed like the next logical career choice. Once I'm a skilled surgeon, I'll give myself the muscle implants, then try the A&F modeling again. I read in a Cosmo that women like strong and smart guys.

Hey man, if you can dream it, you can do it.

Well if it isn't public how the hell are we supposed to answer these important questions?

I'm finding myself strangely attracted to you. Not a girl, sorry.

Chick here. Whoever said ped surg is right on. Ped appeals to the motherly part that likes sensitive, empathetic, guys, but surg appeals to the vain part that wants to be impressed. It's like you have the nice guy and the bad boy in one package. Rock the sense of authority and dominance discussed in the previous posts, but then sneak in a few soft, gentle gestures expected from peds. It'll bring out the "daddy's girl" in an instant.

I met a pediatric neurosurgeon once. swooooon
