There are 3 Universities in California that I am considering:

UC Irvine (Wanting to major in Pharmaceutical Sciences)

UC San Diego (" " in Pharmacological Chemistry)

University of the Pacific (" " in Biochemistry)

Which school should I attend? Would I be better off majoring in a "pharmaceutical" major or biochemistry? What are the best universities that will prepare you, as an undergraduate, for pharmacy school??

Thanks!

Looking at undergrad alone, the best university is easily UCSD. However, if you get accepted out of high school into an accelerated ~6 year program at UOP, you'll basically get into their pharmacy program immediately after finishing undergraduate work. You should strongly consider doing this if you know you want to become a pharmacist.

Otherwise, you should go for one of the majors that's not pharmacological chemistry would be preferable because that major in particular lacks biology. I'm sure there's a biochemistry major at UCSD that you could do instead.

You prepare you for pharmacy school moreso than the university you attend. I think CSUSB prepared me adequately for pharmacy school, but I knew when I started where I was headed and took courses and paid attention to details based on those goals. Having said that, UoP and UCSD both having pharm schools, you might see if they offer electives that will allow for pharm previews. CSUSB had medicinal chemistry as an elective. I found that very helpful for my pharmaceutics courses at USC.
