If you take a class between freshman and sophomore year is it counted towards freshman GPA or sophomore GPA? Also do schools care more about the year by year breakdown or the cumulative (if there isn't a significant trend, maybe .07 difference per year)
If you have less than 24 credits for freshman year it goes under freshman, otherwise sophomore.
The trend is almost as important as the GPA,but they also look at your transcript so even if the calculation is messed up its fine.
Wow that sucks for me then. Is the trend really that important? If so there might be a slight dip sophomore year due to a dumb mistake in a prereq over the summer. My overall science GPA is still 3.9+ though.

Lol you have a 3.9+ there is zero reason to worry about trend. Having a pattern like 4.0/3.85/3.93 for example isn't a dip or a downward trend, it's sustained excellence.

Haha ok thanks. I know I sound neurotic but my dream is to go into academic medicine (going to a top school helps with this I've heard?) and I already go to a lower-ish ranked school so I'm kicking myself for dropping the ball on this one class that should've been an easy A. Got a little too carried away with relaxing during the summer.

You will help yourself a lot if you relax your neuroticism! Getting a few B's isn't going to stop you from going to a great medical school. Focus on keeping up the awesome work 🙂
