Anybody else notice that white coats are making a comeback? Especially over surgical scrubs? Midlevels took over the Patagonia and hokas so I think white coats are making a comeback imo. Looks very good over scrubs

Not at my hospital. I go days without seeing someone in a white coat.

Among attendings I notice the white coat a lot more on women, probably so they don't get confused with nurses. Men, nearly 50/50 split. One ortho doc wore golf shirts exclusively and multiple patients struck up conversations on their stroke game. 🤣

When were white coats going "out of fashion" in hospital/clinical settings? Comeback???

Many of the "midlevels" wear white coats where I am.

At least in surgery, I believe some mid levels are beginning to learn their place.

RNFAs on the other hand? Wear scrub caps in the parking garage

Where I am it seems to be segregated by both age and gender. Older doctors on the whole are more likely to wear their white coats. Women doctors are also more likely on the whole to wear white coats.

I know very few younger (under 50) male doctors that wear white coats. Admittedly I don't hang around the hospital much so it may be different in the inpatient setting.

I wear my white coat but because it has pockets for all the useless crap I find myself using a lot and it has long sleeves and keeps me warm but not hot.

Midlevels shouldn’t be allowed to wear whitecoats. It confuses patients

I wear my white coat. I need the pockets with all the damn phones they make us carry. I liked it better when it was just 1 pager and land lines.
When I was at a hospital with a pager system, the most I had was four I think? When I was at another place that used phones, the most number of phones I carried was coincidentally also four. I wished for the pager bandolier when that happened.

Make fun of me if you want, but I judge people based on how they treat others and how they do their job.

Some midlevels impress me. Many do not.

You are not making any positive impressions at all. Of course you don't need to impress me, but I suggest you change your attitude and how you treat others or you're going to have a tough time in the future.

I know. Everyone is wearing walkie-talkie lanyards and page each other as if they are asking for Siri.
