Who are MD/PhD's and some questions

Hello,

I'm wondering if there are people here who are currently pursuing a dual MD/PhD degree. If so, I'd like to talk to you guys as well as ask some questions about your personal experience:

1) What is the personal statement for the MD/PhD focused on? Is it different than the normal personal statement?

2) What additional essays are required? (In addition to normal MD writing)

If you go to the page that list all the forums on SDN you will find one for physician scientists (MD/PhDs). It might be a better place for your question.

i just realized that I can actually answer your questions, even though I am not an MD/PhD yet.

AMCAS requires two extra essays in addition to your personal statement for MD/PhD applicants.

In the field below, please state your reasons for wishing to pursue the combined MD/PhD degree. The available space is 3,000 characters.

Please describe your significant research experiences. In your statement, please specify your research supervisor's name and affiliation, the duration of the experience, the nature of the problem studied, and your contributions to the project. The available space is 10,000 characters.
