Well..
I come to a realization that as a the one thing I cannot do in my life is to say that Kosovo is not a part of Serbia. I mean clearly some new special relationship is needed between Belgrade and Pristina. A partnership where we treat each other's residents as equals.
The one thing that communism gave both of our people is the infrastructure for building a modern state together. We do not have to do it as part of "Yugoslavia" but let's do it under some kind of mutually beneficial agreement where all the citizens can prosper and respect each other as persons.
Perhaps it would be best if we turn it all over to Brussels.
One thing I would hate to see Serbia and Albania miss out on is drug tourism. The locals in both countries go bonkers when they see German tourists and Americans. It's getting more common now and young folks are used to it, but older people are entranced.
They are shocked to see someone from the West coming to Belgrade to experience the beauty of their city. Anyway.
I was reading an article in "Vesti" a daily Serbian printed newspaper for the diaspora. The article showed that the Serb mafija is the 7th largest in the world and that the Albanian mafia is the 8th largest in the world.
Together Albania and Serbia could be kings of the Balkans. Albania has **** tons of weed and you guys are the most trusted distributors of weed in Europe. Respect, but scary. Now I don't care how you guys do it.
Think back to midieval history? before the Turks came.... We were living in mixed states just fine. So long as all Serbs can visit their cultural and religious icons in peace (the holy lands), I see no reason why Kosovo should not do it's own thing. But I want to see a bilingual Kosovo. I want to see Serbian and Albanian sign posts everywhere just like in Canada, Belgium, BiH, everywhere. That is the European way of building bridges.
This is based on transcripts from various sharp people from the Balkans
Edit:
I mean I know that it is it's own state and does not matter what degree of separation it has from Belgrade. What is important is economic cooperation. I can recognize it's independence but only if I am going to see with it the birth of European Serbia and European Albania - the two most messed up places in Europe.
