Which Master's level can do testing, assessments? From what I understand, MSW can't do it. What about LPs, MFTs, counselors? Can they do assessments and to what extent; only under a psychologist?
I'm interested in doing psychological diagnosis using The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM). It is possible to do so with any type of a Master's degree?? Or only psychiatrist and PhD/PsyD psychologists can do so? Thank you.

"Assessment" in regard to diagnosing can be done at the MA/MS level. "Assessment" in regard to psychological testing and evaluation is more restrictive. Generally it is reserved for the doctoral level, though non-doctoral School Psychologists can also perform some assessments. There are some MA/MS that can do it, though it is typically under the supervision of a doctoral-level person. An MD/DO (ethically) should not administer psychological assessments (MMPI-2, etc), though some do screeners and related assessments.
