OB/Gyn or Gen Surg. It seems like all the text i run into just expects me to know this, and PhD's teaching my PBL don't seem to know (or think they shouldn't let that go).

Wonderful turnaround time Dr.Mom, thank you. Are you interested in EM?

I like your style. Do you see many ruptured ectopics come down the line?

They hed downhill pretty quickly? (last question I promise).

In the rural areas I worked in this past summer, the gereral surgeons replaced the OBGyns (there weren't any Obs for 60 miles) and did almost all ObGyn procedures except for vaginal hysterect. I think it depends on the individual surgeons training and location (rural vs. urban). In more urban areas most all C-sections, emergency ectopics, etc. would be taken care of by Ob's.
Interestingly, the family practice docs did all pre/post-natals, vaginal births, cervical- cryotherapy (LEEP done by Ob 60 miles away), etc.

General surgeons can pretty much do anything OB/GYN can do...surgically that is. And gen surgs can do it much faster - without all of the wasted steps that OB/GYNs perform...too much suturing and wasting time with the Haney (sp?) clamps.
