My words of advice: it's a loooong road. The application process is just the beginning. Once you're in, you have to finish undergrad, matriculate, finish four long (often painful) years of medical school, take the USMLE step 1 halfway (which will pretty much determine your future and what specialties you can try to go for), apply to and interview for residency (oh no, all over again!), take the USMLE step 2 & 3, move and start your life somewhere new for residency (very likely), and then trudge along in residency/fellowship making crappy money for even crappier work hours for anywhere from 3-9 years. Somewhere in between you have the option of getting married, having kids, buying and mortgaging a house, etc.
Wake up and smell the flowers. It's 5pm on a friday? Go out and have fun. Go to a club, bar, movies, the gym, spend time with friends, etc. Enjoy life. It's going to get much busier very soon , and soon you will long for the days when you HAD free time to begin with. The apps. are in the mail, they're out of your hands and there is nothing you can do now. Relax and have fun, you'll regret not doing so in the future. 😀
