I know this sounds like a neurotic pre-med (which I am not) but as the application/interview process rolls on, am I the only one who looks forward to weekdays and loathes the coming of the weekend because it means the admissions committee stops processing our secondaries?

Or maybe I'm turning crazy :scared:

You know, I read the title to this post and thought, "Wow, what a dweeb." But after reading your logic I realized that I secretly hate the weekends for the same reason. If only the adcoms would get off their butts and stop going to church/hanging out with their families then we could get reviewed a lot faster!😡

Yeah, I don't work now, so I no longer have any reason to prefer weekends over weekdays, and I definitely feel ya in regards to the fact that nothing happens with adcoms on weekends. Case in point - sitting here on a complete secondary, but I need to hear back from the school in regards to some things before I can submit it.

I'm glad I'm not the only one feeling this way! Every time Friday at 5 pm rolls around and I don't have anything in my inbox, I am disappointed because that means I won't be getting anything until Monday! Unless, I suppose, a school gives interviews via snail mail, in which case there is always Saturday mail.

But seriously, I know exactly how you feel! I was kind of neurotic before this whole process, and I think I am getting more so by the week.... 🙂

I was definitely feeling the weekdays over the weekends, but now that fantasy football season is starting I think it's going to switch around.

I don't know... I hate weekdays when I get absolutely nothing in my inbox... it just makes me feel sad. At least on weekends when I have nothing there, I can say it's cause the admissions office is closed.

I really hope I'm not like this when I submit...but the sad part is that I can totally see your reasoning!

No work, no med school apps, and it's only been the first week of school.

I like both weekdays and weekends equally.

I'm in lab essentially 7 days a week (like right now) so it's all the same to me

My words of advice: it's a loooong road. The application process is just the beginning. Once you're in, you have to finish undergrad, matriculate, finish four long (often painful) years of medical school, take the USMLE step 1 halfway (which will pretty much determine your future and what specialties you can try to go for), apply to and interview for residency (oh no, all over again!), take the USMLE step 2 & 3, move and start your life somewhere new for residency (very likely), and then trudge along in residency/fellowship making crappy money for even crappier work hours for anywhere from 3-9 years. Somewhere in between you have the option of getting married, having kids, buying and mortgaging a house, etc.

Wake up and smell the flowers. It's 5pm on a friday? Go out and have fun. Go to a club, bar, movies, the gym, spend time with friends, etc. Enjoy life. It's going to get much busier very soon , and soon you will long for the days when you HAD free time to begin with. The apps. are in the mail, they're out of your hands and there is nothing you can do now. Relax and have fun, you'll regret not doing so in the future. 😀

UT Southwestern sent me an interview invitation on a Saturday at 4.

Yea, I became complete at UCI on a Saturday.

I received an email saying I was complete on a Saturday as well. I think I am going to like the weekends a little more now that school and football season has started.

Incredibly wise and sage advice...

BUT we're pre-meds! We just can't stop the insanity! Calgon....

Yea I became complete at Stanford yesterday. I think I like the weekdays more just cause I'm not in school. My university's on quarter system, so classes don't start until sept 25, and im not going out there until the 15ish, I think then I'll like weekends more for sure.
